Taking Classes at a Community Learning Center Your First Visit Code of Conduct Class Schedules Equal Opportunity Statement Technology Usage The site Learning Support Specialist is there to assist you. You should plan to spend about one hour for your first visit. You will fill out an application for the program, take an assessment to determine your placement within a class and discuss with the Learning Support Specialist an appropriate learning program for you. Every student is expected to conduct themselves according to this code of conduct.

Many of your classes will incorporate computer aided learning as an integral part of your classroom work. Currently we have the following learning aids available: Focus on Grammar and Azar Interactive: programs provide grammar practice through a great variety of reading, writing and listening exercises. Plato Learning System: achieve education and training goals through the use of self-paced computer assisted instructional technology; combines assessment, management, and instruction into a powerful system of learning. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing: improve your typing skills quickly and easily; evaluate your progress and customize each lesson to address specific areas of improvement; typing practice includes fiction, folklore, poetry, history, and science topics. Microsoft Word: develop word processing skills. Microsoft Excel: develop spreadsheet skills. Digital Camera: provides learners with the ability to take digital pictures. These can be used with Word to generate story books, personal histories, or other class required assignments. Digital Scanner: provides learners with the ability to scan pictures or documents. These can be used with Word to generate story books, personal histories, or other class required assignments. CD-ROM Writers: provides learners with the ability to generate a CD-ROM containing story books, personal histories, or other class required assignments. |
