Portfolio Assessment
Credit
toward academic programs can be earned at Quinsigamond through the development
of a portfolio. Pending approval from the instructional dean, a faculty member
is hired to review and evaluate the experience that you document in your
portfolio. Generally organized in a notebook or folder, this comprehensive
documentation showcases the competencies, formal training, and/or general
knowledge you have attained through life experiences and clearly demonstrates
that it is worthy of college credit. Program restrictions apply.
If you are interested in earning credit
through a Portfolio Assessment, here are your next steps:
Discuss
developing a portfolio with your advisor to determine how it fits into your
program requirements.
Schedule
an initial appointment with a staff member in Academic Support Services,
Room 272A, to learn more about portfolio development and to determine if
your prior learning is appropriate for portfolio assessment.
Compile
your portfolio, based on QCC portfolio recommended guidelines, see page 10.
BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY OF ALL DOCUMENTATION.
Schedule
a follow-up meeting to finalize the application process.
After
your request has been approved by the appropriate instructional dean, and an
instructor has agreed to serve as your faculty advisor, you will be notified
by mail.
You
will be asked to register and pay for your credits before your portfolio is
officially reviewed.
The
instructor will contact you to set up a time for the formal evaluation.
If your portfolio does not demonstrate
adequate information, it is advised that you complete a withdrawal form. These
are available in the Registrar’s Office.
