Tutorial

Tutorial Study is an option for you if you are at the end of your program, need a course for graduation, and have met eligibility requirements.  To be eligible you must be enrolled in a QCC program, the course you request must be required, and you must be within twenty credits of graduation. Tutorials are not an option during Intersession or Summer II nor are they granted for electives, lab sciences, foreign languages, or developmental courses.  Pending approval from the instructional dean, an instructor is hired to work with you. S/he establishes a teaching/learning situation in consultation with you, provides you with a syllabus, and generally meets with you on a periodic basis to provide direction, assistance, and feedback on the assigned tasks required to complete the learning experience.  You are obligated to learn on your own during the intervening period.

If you are interested in earning credit through a Tutorial, here are your next steps:

    • Discuss requesting a tutorial with your advisor to determine how it fits into your academic program.
    • Come to Academic Support Services, Room 272A, to verify your eligibility and obtain an application.
    • After your request has been approved by the appropriate instructional dean, and an instructor has agreed to serve as your faculty advisor, you will be notified.
    • You will be asked to register and pay for your credits.
    • After payment verification has been received, your instructor will contact you at the beginning of the semester and provide you with a syllabus.
    • It is expected that you will complete all work during the semester of registration.  As with a regular course, if work is not completed the instructor will issue an Incomplete (“I”), which must be made up according to QCC academic timelines.
