Twelfth Year Program

General Information

Quinsigamond Community College offers the Twelfth Year Program as a service to local high school districts that wish to allow their current students the opportunity to complete high school graduation requirements through concurrent enrollment at QCC. Participation in this program is limited to high school seniors (and in some cases, juniors) who have been properly prepared for college-level work. High school guidance counselors are expected to lead in the process of identification of potential applicants as well as in assisting students with the application process. In addition, coursework to be taken at QCC is determined collaboratively by students and appropriate high school guidance personnel. It is the responsibility of the student and parent to consult with the Guidance Office and Principal to ensure that courses selected will meet the requirements for high school graduation.

Criteria for Acceptance

To be eligible for acceptance into the Twelfth Year Program, a student must meet the following criteria:

	be currently enrolled in high school
	have completed high school English courses with grades of "B" or better
	have an overall "B" average
	demonstrate satisfactory disciplinary history in his/her student profile
	assess into College-level English (ENG 101) and Beginning Algebra (MAT 095 ) on the QCC Computerized Placement Test
	complete the QCC Twelfth Year application process within established timelines

Application deadline for the Fall semester: June 1st. 

Application deadline for the Spring semester: December 15th.

Application Procedure

Step One:    Student schedules an appointment for the Assessment    Test by calling the Advising Center at 508-854-4308 or 508-854-4341 . Students must assess into College-level English (ENG 101) and Beginning Algebra (MAT 095) to be eligible for acceptance into the Twelfth Year Program.

Step Two:    If the student meets performance standards on the Assessment Test, he/she can obtain the Twelfth Year Application packet from the Admissions Office, Room 148 in the Administration Building.

Step Three:    Student completes the QCC and Twelfth Year applications with the high school guidance counselor, indicating the courses that the student will take to fulfill high school graduation requirements. It is recommended that alternate courses are also included, in the event that a first choice is unavailable.

Step Four:    Student sends all completed application forms to the QCC Admissions Office, along with copies of assessment test scores and high school transcripts, and the $20 application fee.

Step Five:    Twelfth Year Program coordinator contacts student for interview appointment.

Step Six:    Upon acceptance, the student will be invited to a group orientation for course selection and registration.

PLEASE NOTE:    Students who are accepted into the Twelfth Year Program are responsible for the cost of enrolling in courses at Quinsigamond Community College. Twelfth Year student are not eligible for financial aid.
