Registering a Domain Name for Your Web Site

• ICANN -- Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers  is "responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers. These include domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .UK), as well as the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols."
• Accredited List of Registrars identifies sites for domain name registration. You may follow the registration steps yourself or have your ISP register for you.
• InterNic The Internet's Network Information Center
• InterNic Whois Look up owners on second-level domains already registered.
• DirectNIC - Who Is Another site for identifying registered and available second level domain names.
• IANA.org | Country code top level domains | Internet Assigned Numbers Authority for country-code (two-letter) top-level domains
• GoDaddy.com - registration and hosting
