URL or Universal Resource
Locator is the unique ID that every web page must have.
For example, notice the four sections of this URL:
http://dir.yahoo.com/Arts/index.html

protocol) identifies the protocol or code which tells the computer how the
information is transferred

dir.yahoo.com is the name of the
server connected to the Internet

Arts is the name of a directory on the server
