Word Processing Assessment
Select the items that you need to learn or review; then use the
tutorial as a guide.
- Enter and edit text.
- Copy and move blocks of text.
- Change the appearance of text (font, size, style).
- Change text alignment (centered, left, right, justified).
- Change line spacing in paragraphs.
- Use tab key for paragraph indents.
- Use the format menu to set first line indent for paragraph.
- Use word processing writing tools (e.g. spelling checker, thesaurus, word count).
- Use print preview to view the document layout prior to printing to check
formatting.
- Print a document.
Describe your experience with computing, specifically using the word processing program,
and identify which
features are most helpful. Follow these directions:
- Write your name, the course number and section, and the date on three separate lines
that are aligned left at the top of the page.
- Create a title for the assignment and center it.
- Indent the first line of each paragraph.
- Emphasize a word or phrase by formatting in italics or bold.
- Format all the text as Courier, 12 pt.
- Use the spelling checker and proofread.
- Save the file and pass in a printed copy.
- Length should be about 100-150 words.
