Monadnock State Park is located off the north side of New Hampshire Route 124, west of Jaffrey, and east of Keene and Marlboro. The route to the park is marked by signs from Rt. 124. It is about 2 miles from the highway along Dublin Road (in Jaffrey; beware of other "Dublin Roads"). A second tract is found another mile or so along the road at Gilson Pond. A third location, the Old Toll Road area, providing only parking and hiking trails, is 3 miles farther west on Rt. 124.
There are trails to the summit from virtually any of the roads surrounding the mountain.
The other major roads leading to the area include I-91 from central Connecticut through western Massachusetts into southeastern Vermont. Take Vermont route 9 east to Keene and NH route 124.
From eastern Massachusetts (e.g., Boston)--and also eastern New Hampshire-- one route is I-93 North to NH route 101 west in Manchester. Route 101 goes along the north slopes of the mountain and not near the Park (though the Pumpelly Trail and Dublin Trail are accessible from side roads), but you can take US route 202 south from Peterborough to Jaffrey and turn right onto 124 west. From central Massachusetts, routes 12, 31 and 140 all bring you to route 2; take it west. Take the route 140 north exit (from route 2) to US route 202 north. See the maps below for more detail.
This map is for orientation only. It is not to scale. North is up.
