Jennie's coffee bread

Sub-bread Culture-Swedish Servings-16.00

1 cups milk, scalded
2 Tbs sugar
1 tsps salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cups shortening
2 Tbs yeast, (2 packages or cakes)
3 1/2 cups flour
10 cardamom seeds, crushed fresh.

Pour scalded milk over sugar, salt and shortening. Add eggs and yeast cakes
which have been softened in lukewarm water and 1 tsp. sugar. Add flour, one
cup at a time. and beat after each addition. Add caradmom seed.
Knead and place in buttered bowl, let rise until double in bulk. Knead
and shape and place in greased pan. Let rise again and bake about 25
minutes at 400 dgrees. Sprinkle with nuts and sugar.
