1 lb brown beans
4 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsps salt
1 Tbs butter
4 Tbs vinegar
1 Tbs potato flour
Soak beans overnight in water. Drain and add the 4 cups water
and bring to
a boil. Cook until beans are soft (several hours). Add sugar,
vinegar,
salt and butter and thicken with potato flour mixed with a little
cold
water.
