Tutoring: Walk-in writing tutoring is available for free to all QCC students for any course that has a writing component. Students work one-on-one with tutors to improve their writing, ask questions, get suggestions, and receive instant feedback. Writing tutors can clarify common grammatical errors; assist with writing  themes, such as topic sentences, thesis statements, and introductions/conclusions; explain the different types of essays; and guide students with citation formats, such as APA and MLA.

When Should I See a Tutor?
Students should feel free to visit the Communications Skills Center any time they have an assignment or questions that a tutor can help with. The earlier in the process the student comes in, the better. Students should be prepared to schedule a follow-up session—even professional writers have to work continually at their craft and produce multiple drafts.

Writing Workshops: Every semester the Communications Skills Center offers a series of writing workshops free to QCC students on a variety of topics pertinent to successful college writing.

English Conversation Groups: Students interested in practicing and improving their English vocabulary and conversational skills can participate in the Center's weekly English Conversation Group.

Writer's Webs are individual Web pages containing resources specific to students in English 095, 096, 100, as well  as English language learners/ESL students.

Smarthinking is an online tutoring service available for free to all QCC students.
