In 1972 the Dental Hygiene Program was established at the QCC Belmont Street Campus.  At that time there was no clinic on campus so students traveled to Fort Devens for their clinical experience.  In May of 1974 the "new" clinic opened at the Greendale Campus.   In 1999 the College assumed sponsorship of the Dental Assisting Program from Worcester Technical Institute.  In  2000 the Dental Clinic was completely renovated and it is now a state of the art facility.

The College now offers a one year certificate program in Dental Assisting and a two year associate degree program in Dental Hygiene.  In addition, for students who are already Certified Dental Assistants, there is a one year program leading to an associates degree with three options: Health Science, Dental Office Management, and Dental Sales/Marketing.  Qualities deemed necessary for dental professionals are listed in the document Essential Behaviors for Dental Professionals.
