Associate in Science Degree
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q What does an electromechanical equipment technician
do?
A Electromechanical equipment technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of computer-driven manufacturing or automatic control equipment. They must understand basic electronics and computer operating systems in order to work with a variety of equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes.
Q Where do graduates of this program find jobs?
A Technicians in this field may work in any advanced manufacturing environment that uses automated equipment (computer-driven or electronically controlled equipment), particularly the semiconductor manufacturing industry. They may also work in settings that use automatic environmental control or security systems.
Q What will I gain by enrolling in the Electromechanical
Technology program?
A The curriculum will provide you with the classroom and hands-on experiences needed to develop and execute troubleshooting strategies and preventative maintenance on automated systems, vacuum systems, and power RF systems. In addition, you will gain competency in developing and troubleshooting programs for programmable logic controllers. The curriculum places emphasis on semiconductor manufacturing processes.
Q What are the admissions requirements for this program?
A If you wish to be considered for the Electromechanical Technology Associate degree program, you must have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
· You must submit an application for admission with a copy of your high school transcript or general equivalency diploma (GED).
· In addition, you must have completed three years of high school English and one year of high school algebra, or the Quinsigamond course equivalents. All courses must be completed with grades of ‘C’ or higher.
Q How long will it take me to complete the program?
A The length of time it takes you to complete the program will depend on the results of your assessment test and the number of courses you take each term. The Electromechanical Technology program requires 71 credits for completion. A full-time student usually carries between 12-18 credits per semester. Students can, however, choose to study part-time during the day or evening.
Q How much will my education cost and is Financial Aid
available?
