Paramedic Refresher

FALL 2006!  The Online Paramedic Refresher is a 15 week course that starts in late August with an introductory class on campus. Then you login and participate weekly—at any time—on a discussion board where you, your “classmates” and an emergency physician can interact. In early December you come back to Quinsigamond to review the skills stations and to take the final exams.

The entire program is OEMS and NREMT approved

as part of an educational study.

What do you do each week from your computer?

  • Review topic outlines covering all required refresher materials

  • Complete 1 to 4 quizzes (average is 2 weekly) relating to material in the outlines

  • Participate in a physician-moderated discussion board based on the latest EMS articles, research, and advances.

  • Complete interactive case-based scenarios

 

What computer skills should you have? (The pre-session will help you learn these skills.)

  • Using email

  • Sending and reading attachments

  • Posting and reading messages on a discussion board

  • Navigating the World Wide Web (Internet) with Internet Explorer 5.0 or better

This is the only online course in the country approved to fulfill the 48 hour paramedic refresher requirement by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.  They have given approval as part of an ongoing study of this program's effectiveness; as a course participant you will be part of this exciting research. Introductory Session (choose ONE when registering):

  • Saturday, August 28, 10a-12p

  • Monday, August 30, 12a-2p

  • Tuesday, August 31, 7p-9p

    All introductory sessions are held at the Worcester Common Fashion Outlets near Bed Bath and Beyond.

Final Session

  • ALL participants must attend the final exam on Saturday, December 10th.

    This session is held at the Main Campus.

This course is limited to 40 participants so register early!

At this time it is also limited to paramedics certified in MA, VT, NH, and RI only.
