About Doc Benway

Gaelan Lee Benway received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University in 2006.  Her Master’s degree in Sociology is also from Brown, and her B.A. in Anthropology is from Middlebury College.

Doc Benway has taught at a variety of southern New England colleges and universities since 1993, and accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Sociology at QCC in 2005. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008.

Her academic interests include Gender, Sexuality, Inequalities, and Globalization, and her research has taken her from Providence, Rhode Island to East Africa, Cuba, the Navajo Nation, and points in between.

Doc Benway resides in Oakham, Massachusetts where she is known as “Mom” and is expected to know where all the left socks are hidden.
