SOC 111 - Social Problems and Social Change

This introductory course uses the perspective of sociology to examine the way social changes in the United States have produced social problems, such as prejudice and poverty, that involve our families and the quality of life in our multicultural society.    Upon successful completion of the course, students should have learned to recognize and understand the relationship between on-going social change and resultant social problems that accompany change.  Students should be aware of major problems facing our society today, and should be able to separate myth from fact and to analyze these problems objectively.
