MCCC Meeting Minutes

September 6, 2005

MCCC Website:  Steve Zona is the webmaster for our union’s website (www.qcc.mass.edu/MCCC).  He requests info to put on the web.  He will add any links we want.  Currently on the website are the contract (the old one), the minutes of past meetings, the newsletter and links to the statewide MCCC.  Marilyn Martin asks members to give thought to how we can use the website more effectively.  Reply to her or to Steve with your thoughts and comments.

Contract update:  Contract is ratified.  Next steps:  it is supposed to be signed by BHE on Sept. 12.  On Sept. 13, it will be sent to the Governor.  He then has 45 days to submit it for funding.  MCCC Board of Directors voted to stay on Work to Rule.  We here at QCC can vote what we want to do.  We should not vote to remain on Work to Rule if we are not going to carry it out. 

Motion:  to continue Work to Rule until we get the money in our paychecks.

Unanimous vote.

Jean Nichols will re-circulate the Work to Rule document of last year.  Marilyn will send an email reminding folks that it is on our MCCC website.

No MCCC meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005

Discussion about Academic Affairs meetings:  Last year, all Academic Affairs meetings were adjourned.  Marilyn is asking for guidance as to canceling those meetings this year.  She wants support from the members of that committee to continue to adjourn.  All MCCC members of the Acad. Aff. Committee voted to support adjournment.

Tenured MCCC members should continue to adjourn Division meetings.

Maura Stickles has resigned as Grievance Officer.  If you have a grievance, contact Marilyn Martin.

Presidential Search Process:  we hope that the MCCC will have input into the process.  Marilyn has requested to be on the Search Committee.
