Ways To Reduce
Math Anxiety

 1. Overcome negative self-talk.
 2. Make sure you attend every math class.
 3. Use a good math note-taking system.
 4. Copy all informatioin that is written on the board.
 5. Take notes on how to solve difficult problems.
 6. Ask questions.
 7. Consider math a foreign language -- it must be practiced.
 8. TALK mathematics.
 9. Get help the same day you don't understand.
10. Study math according to YOUR LEARNING STYLE.
11. Find a study buddy and set up group study times.
12. Spend as much time on math homework as needed.
13. Get help early in the semester before you get too lost in the course.
14. While doing homework, write down questions for the instructor/tutor.
15. Schedule a study period after your math class.
16. Take full advantage of all the helpful resources in the
Math Lab
.
17. Be relaxed and comfortable while studying math.
18. Do math homework every day.
19. For practice, do all the example problems in the text.
20. For difficult topics, review the software that comes with your book before going to class.
21. If you miss a class, ask your instructors for permission to attend the same course that is taught at a different time or day. Remember: You are held responsible for material covered in classes that you have missed.
22. Develop responsibility for your own successes and failures.
