Admissions Process

Transfer Requests

EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA - all applicants must have:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, and acceptable minimum scores on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) 
     

  • Assessment Test scores at the MAT 100 level OR satisfactory (B or better) completion of MAT 099 or MAT 098**

  • Assessment Test scores at the ENG 101 level OR satisfactory (B or better) completion of college level English course (ENG 100)
     

  • 1 year high school biology with lab and a minimum grade of B OR satisfactory (B or better) completion of BIO 101** (recommended) or other college level biology course (4 credits)**
     

  • HOBET V Test:  Composite Score of 52%
     
     

  • HS GPA: 3.0 or higher OR 3.0 college GPA with a minimum of 10 credits OR 550 Battery Average on GED.

    **Math and science courses must have been completed within the last five years.  The Required B grade must be attained within two attempts at taking and completing the courses.

DISCOVERY ACTIVITIES

  • Once the above course work has been satisfactorily completed (as determined by the college admissions staff), the applicant will be directed to complete the following activities before final acceptance to the program is determined.

  • Thoroughly review the information on this website

  • Visit the Harrington Learning Center (2nd floor) to review the program Policy and Procedures handbook (sign the documentation page) and watch the "Careers in Radiologic Sciences" and HIPAA videos which are held on reserve (sign the documentation pages). The hours of the HLC are Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 8:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Saturday 8:00am - 12:00pm. You do not need to be a student at Quinsigamond to use the facility for these purposes.
     

  • Complete a 1/2 day observation visit to the Radiology Department of one of the clinical education centers affiliated with this program. During this visit, the applicant will be given opportunity to observe radiographic procedures and talk with current students and clinical instructors.
     

  • Interview with program faculty members.

  • Note: Only those candidates who have successfully completed the Educational Criteria will be scheduled for clinical observation and a faculty meeting.
     

  • New classes start each September.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

  • Good health is required of all personnel involved with patient care. All students accepted to the Radiologic Technology program will be required to submit documentation of a current (within one year) physical examination prior to beginning their clinical education assignment.
     

  • Current results of Mantoux (Tb), Tetanus (Td), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox) and Hepatitis B immunizations MUST be documented with dates of immunization and/or titer levels.
     

  • Students will not be permitted to begin clinical assignments if any aspect of the health form is not fully completed and signed by the student and their physician.  Health forms must be submitted to the program director by September 1st.  
     

  • The costs for the exam and immunizations are the responsibility of the student and the college has no means of providing financial support for this.
     

  • Students admitted to the program must have current certification in CPR for the Health  Professional (offered by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association) prior to beginning clinical assignments. 
     

TRANSFER REQUESTS

 

Students actively enrolled in a Radiologic Technology Program accredited by the JRC/ERT may request transfer into the QCC Radiologic Technology program.  Consideration for admission to the second, third or fourth semester of the program will be individually reviewed based on the following documentation supplied by the applicant:

  • Official transcript of completed course work in the current Radiologic Technology program.

  • Complete syllabi of all Radiologic Technology courses completed

  • Current Radiologic Technology program curriculum to include descriptions of all professional courses

  • Letter of recommendation from current clinical instructor

  • Letter of recommendation from current program director

  • Meeting with QCC Radiologic Technology program faculty

  • Compliance with QCC Admissions Office Transfer process

  • Complete immunization record

The review process will determine the similarity between the two Radiologic Technology programs to ensure the transfer student would ultimately fulfill all required elements of the QCC program for graduation.  This may require the transfer student to repeat one or more completed Radiologic Technology courses.  Final admission will be on a space available basis.  Accepted transfer students will be required to complete a CORI / SORI check, have CPR certification (health care provider level)
