RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Program Structure

  1. BIO 111 and ENG 101 are scheduled to be taken in the summer session prior to beginning the program’s core courses in the fall semester. It is important to take these courses at this time, because the radiography course schedule will interfere with being able to take them during the fall semester. It is generally recommended for students to complete ALL the General Education requirements (ENG 101 & 102, BIO 111 & 112, PSY 101, SPH 101 & LA elective), prior to beginning the core Radiography courses.

  2. The program’s core (RDT) courses begin during the fall semester and include four lecture courses, two labs and 8 - 16 hours of clinical, each week.

  3. Clinical assignments resume on January 2nd on a full-time* basis (40 hrs/week) during winter intersession.

  4. The spring semester (first year) didactic classes (three academic classes, two labs) are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and clinical assignments on Tuesday & Thursday (16 hours per week).

  5. Following the completion of final exams in the spring semester (first year) students continue their clinical assignments on a full-time* basis (40 hrs/week) through the end of June.

  6. The month of July is vacation. (Between first & second years of the program.)

  7. Second year students begin clinical assignments at their second clinical education site the first week of August. This session is full-time* days (40 hrs/week) until the beginning of the fall semester.

  8. During the second year of the program (fall & spring semesters), students will attend their academic classes on Tuesday and Thursdays and clinical on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays (24 hours per week).

  9. Second year clinical assignments will include periodic 11:00 am - 7:00 pm shift rotations.

*Full-time days is equal to 8.5 hours between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.,

or 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. depending on the specific clinical site to which the student is assigned.
