Promoting Safety"
SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH: Prevent slipping and falling at work by
wearing shoes that are skid proof, using ladders when needed,
cleaning up spills, holding onto railings, and reporting any hazards
to those who can fix and prevent someone else from getting injured.
APRIL IS ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH HERE
ARE SOME WAYS TO DISCOVER IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS A PROBLEM
AND HOW TO HELP YOURSELF OR THEM.
If you answer “yes” to any of the following
questions, you may have a problem:
1.
Do you drink alone when you feel angry or sad?
2. Does your drinking ever make you late for
work?
3. Does your drinking worry your family?
4. Do you ever drink after telling yourself you
won’t?
5. Do you ever forget what you did while
drinking?
6. Do you get
headaches or have a hangover after drinking?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. To help cut down or stop drinking:
Why do you want to drink less? There are many
reasons to stop: Improve your health, sleep better, or get along
better with family and friends. Make a list for yourself…
2. Set a drinking goal:
Choose a limit for how much you will drink. You
may choose to cut down or not to drink at all. Write down your
limits. If you are cutting down, here are some limits:
Women (No more than one drink
a day) Men (No more than two drinks a day).
A drink is: a 12 oz. bottle of beer, a 5 oz
glass of wine or a 1 ½ oz shot of liquor
3. Keep a “diary” of your drinking:
To help reach your goal, keep a “diary”. Write
down every time you have a drink for 1 week. Keep a diary for 3 or 4
weeks. You may be surprised. How different is your goal from the
amount you drink now?
LEARN TO
SAY “NO” and DON’T GIVE UP!
