         SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH: Know where you are. Being aware of your surroundings and walk along well lit, well traveled routes. Shortcuts are not always the best option

 

PREVENT WINDOW SHOPING/Prepare Yourself

            Without opportunity there is no crime. Alarms and clubs are not always going to prevent crime, but will often deter the thief. The thief will look for an easier car to steal.

bulletNever leave valuables on your seat, the floor or the dashboard. Use the trunk and glove for storage.
bulletRemove money, cell phones, portable electronic devices and CDs from view.
bulletDon’t leave registration in vehicle. It makes it easier to sell.
bulletTake checkbooks/credit cards with you or leave them at home.
bulletCover valuables stored in the rear of SUVs and trucks.

 PREVENT VEHCILE THEFT

bulletDon’t leave your car unattended while running.
bulletPark in well-lit and well traveled area.
bulletKeep ALL of your doors locked at all times.
bulletRoll your windows up completely.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

+ Children should carry flashlights to be seen

+ Costumes that are light colored or have reflection tape are the best

+ If using swords, knifes etc…please use soft flexible materials

+ Supervise pumpkin carving to avoid injuries

+ If your child wears a mask, be sure he/she can breathe properly

+ MOST IMPORTANT: INSPECT TREATS BEFORE EATING & HAVE FUN!!

Never forgotten: Binge Drinking Fatalities

Benjamin Wynne—20 year old Louisiana State University student, dies of acute alcohol poisoning as a result of a drinking binge at several parties. His B.A.C. was 0.588, six times the legal limit.

THE ADVENTURES OF OFFICER BOB

Wanted Warren walked up to Officer Bob as he was showing off his police car computer to kids in the neighborhood. When Wanted Warren asked how the system works, Officer Bob asked him for his license. Officer Bob then ran the information into the computer, and moments later he arrested Wanted Warren because information on the screen showed that Wanted Warren was wanted for two old armed robberies.

October 4-10 is FIRE PREVENTION WEEK. Be sure to make fire prevention a regular experience. Practicing fire drills at  work or at home DOES save lives…..

PARKING APPEAL EXCUSE OF THE MONTH: “The citation states that the vehicle make is volkswagon and color is red. The vehicle make is Volvo and vehicle color is orange as stated on vehicle registration.”

 

         Text Box: The Speed Limit on Campus is 10 M.P.H. and with the new loop road, the QCC Police will be working to reduce speeders. Please respect the speed limits on campus, so that you and others who transverse the campus can come and go safely.
