FUPS is a sub-committee of the broader Staff Development Committee. The Faculty & Unit Professional Development Committee focuses on the professional development needs of full- and part-time faculty, as well as full- and part-time professional staff. A major function of this committee includes the planning of workshops, programs and other activities designed to address the developmental needs of the larger group. It also supports the development of a sense of community, collegiality, and belonging while preparing individuals to work together, support each other, and meet the diverse educational needs of the students.
| To promote a sense of collegiality and common courtesy | |
| To provide training opportunities which will enhance job performance and career satisfaction | |
| To improve services to the students | |
| To provide training in state-of-the-art instructional technology and pedagogy | |
| To promote the establishment of a Staff Development Network |
This sub-committee has merged with the broader Staff Development Committee.
We have an ongoing Mentoring Program that includes Mentor Mornings, Mentor Luncheons, Breakfast Club Workshops, and pairing of current and new faculty and staff. The Staff Development Committee is always seeking interested Faculty members and Unit Professionals to serve as Mentors. Evidence in both business and industry and the academic world indicates that mentoring fosters a positive work environment for both the mentor and protégé. Faculty and Unit Professionals should indicate their interest in mentoring by contacting Erica Merrill in the Staff Development Office, room 114 Ahlfors, 508-854-4229 or email emerrill@qcc.mass.edu.
