How to Access, Save, Find, and Use Course Files

Removing the Pop-up Blocker
 
To activate the drop-down link boxes, turn off the pop up blocker that may appear at the top of this window as a pale yellow bar. This will allow free access to the links designated as: W - Word Document |  P - Powerpoint  |  L - Lesson Plan |  R - Instructor Additonal Reading | l - External Link |

Downloading and saving file to your local machine

1.Click on the name of the file. You may see another login screen. You can click cancel or enter your username and password and click OK. From home you need to enter  QCCLAN\  followed by your username (no spaces).

2. Wait for the file to download. This may take a few seconds or minutes depending on the size of the file and your Internet connection.

3. Once you see the file, go to the File menu and select Save as.

4. In the dialog box you need to select the location where you want to save this document or PowerPoint presentation. At the top of the Save as box and  to the right of the space next to "Save in," click the little triangle to see choices. Select Desktop or a Drive by clicking on it and then you may select a particular folder--choose some place you can remember in order to access the file later.

5. After selecting the place to save the file, select the Save button at the bottom of the Save as dialog box. The file is now saved on your machine (or on your H drive at QCC).

Modifying the file

1. After saving the file to your own machine, you may use it as you would your own document or presentation.

2. Remember to save changes to the file periodically as you adapt it.

Printing the file

1. To print a Word file select Print from the file menu, and then OK at the bottom of the dialog box.

2. To print a PowerPoint presentation--


Finding the File

1. To find a desired file on either the THEMES page or the individual WEEKS pages easily go to the desired page.
2. From the Internet explorer menu select EDIT --> FIND ON THIS PAGE
3. Type the name/keyword of file you want in the FIND box
4. Hit the NEXT button
5. Click on the desired link.
