Examples of the Objectives

Course Objectives:

  1. Compute specified images and preimages relative to a given function.
  2. Sketch the graph of a given functions, including exponential and logarithmic functions.
  3. Find the value of a stipulated term or the sum of a specified number of initial terms in a given arithmetic or geometric progression.
  4. Use formulas and tables to compute present value, future value, rate, term, and finance charge in various finance applications.
  5. Solve right triangles and word problems which involve right triangles.
  6. Use exponential and logarithmic relationships to analyze situations involving exponential growth in the areas of finance and natural science.

Thinking Mathematically Supplement:

  1. Become familiar with the fundamental processes which comprise "Mathematical" thinking.
  2. Given a problem requiring mathematical thought, write a narrative of a thought/action sequence (incorporating the fundamental processes of mathematical thought) which leads to the resolution of the problem.
