IT 120 Introduction to Digital Video I ― Choosing and Using a DV Camcorder

The newer breed of digital video cameras (Mini-DV) combine incredible ease of use, portability, and astounding picture quality.  If you've waited all these years to consider using Video, now is the time to jump right in.  In this session, we will explore the essentials of DV Video photography, using QCC's Canon F-1 "Pro-sumer" Mini DV camera, plus Paul Connell's pocket-sized Canon Elura.  The  following topics will be covered:  Choosing a Camera, Battery Life, LCD Screens, Auto Exposure Schemes, White Balance, Motion Compensation, Tripods and Monopods, Zooming, Importance of Good Sound, Microphone Placement, Lavalier Mikes, The Infamous-Styrofoam-Cup Trick, Playback, Copying to VHS format (crude editing).
