What is the Education Compact?
The statewide Early
Childhood Education Compact and Elementary Education Compact were
created by the Board of Higher Education along with the Presidents of
the Massachusetts Community Colleges, State Colleges, and University
of Massachusetts campuses. The goals of the two compacts are to
strengthen teacher education throughout the public higher education
system, increase the diversity of the teacher workforce, and broaden
career opportunities in teaching for community college students.
What's required for
the Education Compact?
- Complete an approved Associate
degree program (at QCC these are Early Childhood
Education-Transfer and General Studies -Elementary Education)
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of
2.75 (Bridgewater SC requires a higher GPA)
- Apply for admission to a
participating MA State College on a timely basis (see link to list
below). Eligible students can use the Joint Admissions
Intent To Enroll
form for this application
- Achieve a passing score on the
Communication and Literacy Skills Test (CLST) portion of the
Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL)
