"Traditional" transfer admission to BSN programs
Students looking to be admitted to Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees WITHOUT completing the RN degree first, are
considered competitive applicants. This
means they must meet specific admissions criteria in terms of
Having these minimum admissions criteria does not
guarantee admission. Applicants are competing with other students for a
limited number of spaces. Students are recommended to consider
and apply to more than one nursing program. Transfer admission
for RN to BSN
programs
Students who have completed RN Associate degrees can transfer into
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs at advanced levels.
Competition is less of an issue but students still need to
meet specific requirements.
Articulation Agreements QCC has RN to BSN agreements
with area colleges for students who complete our RN Associate degree.
These include: Emmanuel College, Fitchburg State College, Framingham
State College, UMass-Lowell, and Worcester State College.
Other colleges offer similar RN to BSN programs. These are sometimes
called "mobility" or "nursing mobility" programs. Look for these to be
offered in the Continuing Education (evening) division of a college or
university.
Public colleges vs. private colleges
-
Many QCC students want to transfer to
Worcester State College or UMass-Amherst, however these schools are
the least likely options.
-
Worcester State College accepts very few
transfer applicants and requires very high GPAs (3.7- 4.0) as well.
-
UMass-Amherst
BSN program is geared to freshman applicants; they do not accept transfer applicants.
-
Other UMass Nursing programs (Boston,
Dartmouth and Lowell), are as competitive as Worcester State.
-
Other State Colleges such as Fitchburg
and Salem may be good opportunities to pursue.
-
Local private colleges are also
reasonable alternatives to consider.
